The day is February 13th and its one of the last home game for the Weber State hockey team, especially for the senior that is graduating this year.  Congratulations to the two senior that I know of, #4 Phill Jennrich and #24 Jesse Love!

I’ve been talking to Lucas, #29(Goalie) about coming out to photograph a game, I have been busy and now finally got around to it.  I have a special appreciation for the game since I also play hockey in the Ogden men’s recreational league.  It’s a fast sport, there is so many things to capture.  Of course coming from a video production background, I had a shot list in my head before the game even started.

I was walking around with my favorite Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VR lens and 11-16mm Tokina f2.8 wide lens on another camera body.  I really like the wide lens when the player gets close to the glass.

I was using a ladder to shoot over the glass in second period and had a puck barely missed the back of my head by an inch!  I felt the wind from the puck made my hair moved.  I love this sport, it always keep me on my toes!

It was a great game! I had a great experience.  The fans were at the edge of their seat as the game started to sped up and more body check was being thrown.  I can hear the fans talking trash to each other,  one of the policeman had to calm down one of the BYU fan.  It’s the best hockey game I seen so far this year!  I can’t wait to do it again soon, Go WEBER!
