I think a lot of people spend a large amount of time upgrading gear and equipment, but often forget to upgrade their office.  The office should be the heart and soul of where the creative origin starts.  You spend countless hours editing video and photo in your office, so why not make it nice? One bonus is that you can meet new client and have coffee there instead of a random coffee shop, which is loud and no one likes to talk about money in public.  New client can also see your work hanging on the walls and they can see how professionally you are by your office.

I start upgrading my office by ripping up my carpet, because carpet collect dirt and doesn’t move hot air from your workstation to well.  I added hardwood flooring in place of it, it look nice and welcoming and its easy to clean.  Secondly, I threw out my small desk and upgrade to an U-shaped desk.  At first it seem a little to big, but it’s not.  Because its better to have a desk that can house all of your photo printer, at least two monitor, workstation, scanner,  drawing tablet and laptop. Instead of having a cluster of small desk, which looks messy.

I also have a spot for my client to sit down and sign contract and look at my monitor for their final approval of a video.

Finally, I ordered a nice wooden logo of my company to hang on my wall as a centerpiece, It’s saying “I’m serious and I have a business license.”

Face it, your office is where the magic happens!  Upgrade it to fit your style!
